The Language Intervention
Lab at the Clinic serves young preschool children with communication delays
or disorders through the Language Intervention Lab (LIL). Although some children benefit
from one-on-one therapy,
most young children respond optimally within a setting that
is arranged for natural communication exchanges
that includes peers. Through child-centered activities that engage children, opportunities
to communicate become functional and fun!

 Evaluation services are
provided to individuals of
all ages for articulation or
speech sound disorders,
language impairments,
voice disorders, problems
in fluency or stuttering, and impaired oral muscular
control. The assessment
typically includes
comprehensive testing and observation, interviews with the client and family members, and
consultation regarding the clinical findings and recommendations.

Intervention programs
vary depending on the nature and severity of the communication disorder,
the person's age and individual concerns.
Therapy may be scheduled for individual or group sessions with
clients of all ages. Parents of children in therapy as well as family members or
caregivers of adult clients receive information regarding the person's progress and
ways to facilitate communication skills outside the clinic.

Accent
Reduction
For individuals with foreign
or regional accents, the Accent Reduction Program focuses on
improving pronunciation, intonation, spoken grammar
and use of the language.
